Did you know that Portland hosts the largest cash prize event for Velodrome racing in America? Did you know that we are almost at capacity as far as the number of competitors we can take? Did you know that we have riders from New Zealand, Trinidad, Britain, Canada and the US? Did you know that we had over 5000 spectators at last years event and it rained? This year is sun!!! Did you know that we have food vendors, clothing booths and games and activities for kids? Sponsored by: Alpenrose Dairy Bike n' Hike River City Bicycles Willamette Week Carr Subaru Courtyard by Marriott - Portland/Tigard WB 32 Racing for Elite Men, Elite Women and Masters 35+ Schedule Thursday 7/18/02 Registration at the Velodrome 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM Friday 7/19/02 Session #1 Registration and warm up 9:00 AM Racing starts 10:00 AM Masters - Pursuit Women - Pursuit Men - Pursuit Session #2 Registration and warm up 5:00 PM Racing starts 6:00 PM Masters - 50+ 500 m Women - 500 m Masters - 1 k Men - 1 K Men - Qualifier Points race The Qualifier race will be held if there is a need to limit the field size for the weekend’s mass start races; the 10 mile, Points Race and Miss & Out. Riders not already pre-qualified will need to race in this race in order to be able to compete in the weekend’s mass start races. Pre-qualified riders will not compete in this race. There will be a separate $500 prize list for this race. Saturday 7/20/02 Session #3 - Sign in & warm up 9:00 AM Racing starts 10:00 AM Men - Sprints qualifier through Semi-Finals, 10 mile Women - Keirin qualifier, Miss & Out Masters - Keirin qualifier, 10 mile Session #4 Sign in & warm up 3:00 PM Racing starts 4:00 PM Kiddie Kilo Men - Sprints Minor Final through Finals, Miss & Out Women - Keirin Final, Points Masters - Keirin Final, Miss & Out Madison, Olympic Sprint Sunday 7/21/02 Session #5 Sign in & warm up 9:00 AM Racing stars 10:00 AM Women - Sprints qualifier through Semi-Finals Masters - Sprints qualifier through Semi-Finals Men - Keirin qualifier Session #6 Sign in & warm up 3:00 PM Racing starts 4:00 PM Kiddie Kilo Women - Sprints Minor Final through Finals, 5-Mile Masters - Sprints Minor Final through Finals, Points Race Men- Keirin Final, Points Flying lap $200 prize if the Men's or Women's records are broken in the pursuit or kilo/500m. No entry fee for the flying lap. Prize will be a crowd prime. Current flying lap records are: Men Steen Madsen 15.44 2000 Women Jen Evans 17.21 1997 Prizes Men $10,000 Women $4,000 Masters $1,000 plus record attempt prizes. Prizes are cash. There will be prizes for individual events and for an overall omnium. Prize breakdown will be available on request or at the Velodrome. Field limits Field sizes will be limited for the mass start events. These are the 10 mile, Points Race and Miss & Out. All riders to compete in these events must be registered by Friday evening, 7/19/02 prior to the start of the Qualifier Points Race. For Masters and Women pre-registered riders will be given precedence. For the Men’s field pre-registered riders who are Cat 1 track riders OR who have standing in the prior American Velodrome Challenge series events will be pre-qualified. If there are remaining places to be filled and field limits are exceeded riders who are not pre-qualified must ride the Qualifier Points Race on Friday.
