Recently this list has discussed knee-jerk journalists trying to tell us
cyclists don't belong on roads, and Lance not being an athlete -- what about
the Oregonian's coverage of the tremendous AVC (none, that I saw)? What's
the deal?

If anyone has a contact at our fair newspaper, I hope some cool photos can
grace the sports section (not the Living section, please!) for the upcoming
Rose Pedal Twilight Criterium.

Maybe OBRA could send photos to the Oregonian (or Tribune). I understand
Willamette Week had ads prior to the AVC...did they follow up with a story?

I say this in no disrespect for any OBRA associate...and we shouldn't have
to beg media to cover such an in-city event that was both "grassroots" and
"worldclass!"

Alpenrose Challenge pix up on www.velodrome.com!

Mike and Candy Murray in action (Mike racing!).

Tillman breaks Alpenrose Pursuit record.

Wild horizontal 200m TTs (as Jeff says - my 'money shot').

Stephen Alfred breaks off his Corima seat spar WITHOUT USING HIS
HANDS! Goes on to win sprint tournament. Jeff takes the second
chance/grudge match/re-ride.

Marty Nothstein on his sleek new black Eddy Merckx ride.

Gil Hatton spent way too much time on the tarmac - raced like an ANIMAL
though.

Tim Goodwin ruled the Masters Sprint events.

Walrod!

Erin Mirabella on her new Waterford.

Marty N. and Mike T. rule the Madison.

ECV/TTown kids win in an Oly Sprint shocker.

Hoppy steals the Keirin while Marty celebrates.

Eddy, Kiesanowki and Carney take the points races.

Labauve clocks fastest lap and trio of Tignor, Kiesanowski and
Mirabella claims Olympic Sprint record.

Now - with a list of headlines like that, wouldn't you like to hear
the whole story? Too bad the mags haven't shown any interest in
coverage of the AVC series.

Enjoy!
