Who else here is ready for the cross season to start? I've had a great time racing road and mountain bikes this year, but there's just something about cross... Road racing is usually pretty stuffy, people just seem to take themselves way too seriously. XC Mountain biking is a lot of fun, but even it can't compare to the culture that cross brings. No one else has been able to create such a festival atmosphere for a race. (Hornings and PDX Short Track come close, though). Not to put anyone down, racing in Portland is overall wonderful. I'm just looking forward to the heckling, encouraged sandbagger callouts, cowbells, nearly naked racers, beer hand-ups, and ohhh the sweet misery of it all.
