Don't know but I raced the first three Mud Slingers. '88 -'90 I believe. It
was my first mountain bike race ever and being a cat II on the road, I was
told I would have to be a pro and line up with Tinker despite my objections.
I was with a lead group of five nearing the top of the first long climb
when I somehow managed to rip the rear derailleur off the frame. I coasted
back down the hill to the start and hung out to see the results. During the
awards ceremony, I was given the "hard luck" prize of a new derailleur.
