THE OREGON CUP - 2000
A Performance Based Points System for Road Racing Events

EVENTS (pending final scheduling):
1. Banana Belt Road Race #3
2. Kings Valley Road Race
3. Beaverton Gran Prix Criterium
4. Silverton Road Race
5. Mt. Tabor Criterium
6. District Road Race (Pear Blossum Course)
7. District Criterium
8. Eugene Celebration (Road Race Only)

GENERAL RULES:
1. Divisions for year one: Senior 1/2 Men and Senior 1/2/3 Women. Additiona=
l
categories will potentially be added in 2001.
2. Events selected by OBRA Oregon Cup Committee based on Race Selection
Criteria (below).
3. Event promoter fee - $200 per event - to help cover costs and contribute
to prize list.
4. Prize List - Goal for 2000 is $3,000.
5. Points distribution for all races 20 deep: 1st-100 points; 2nd-75 points=
;
3rd-60; 4th-50; 5th-45; 6th-40 points; 7th-35 points; 8th-30 points; 9th-25
points; 10th-20 points; 11th-19 points; 12th-18 points; 13th-17 points;
14th-16 points; 15th-15 points; 16th-14 points; 17th-13 points; 18th-12
points; 19th-11 points; 20th-10 points.
6. Cash Prize Distribution - 10 deep to be determined. Category distributio=
n
will be based on participation levels. Trophies will be awarded to winners.
7. Leaders=B9 and champions=B9 jerseys will be awarded.
8. The OBRA Oregon Cup Committee will conduct ongoing outreach to potential
sponsors and media.

RACE SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. No more than eight events.
2. Event Type Balance - Road Races - 5 to 6 events, Criteriums 2 to 3
events.
3. Road Race Difficulty Balance - Balance degree of difficulty based on
hills vs. flat, distance, etc.
4. Championship Events - Include district championship events (except TTs).
5. High Profile Event - Well advertised in advance both with membership and
media. High likelyhood of commercial sponsorship.
6. Geographically Balanced - Southern, central and northwest Oregon based o=
n
membership representation.
7. Historically Significant - History of success over many seasons.
8. Demonstrated Participation - Popular event and/or venue.
9. Seasonally Balanced - March through September.
10. Quality Venue/Promotion - Highest standards for promoters and OBRA.
