I don't see any significant benefit or detriment. I get the feeling that most crossers (and maybe most of OBRA?) want to buck the system (USCF) and keep up our rebelious, do it yourself ethic. OBRA is by far the best run organization in the states, there is no dire need for a conforming change. I AM leaning towards it being a good idea though, I would like to understand the rules for upgrades and stuff. With relatively few cross races per season it may be really hard for rookie crossers to move up in the category system. And race promoters will still have the right to run beginner categories and unicycles and stuff so that is not a big issue. Ending sandbagging would be nice. Actually, I kinda enjoy the heckling. I don't imagine we would actually be joining the UCSF points system. Just like our road and mountain bike races, we don't actually get any UCSF/NORBA points for them, we just share the same category system. So as you move up in the OBRA system then you qualify to race at the same level when you travel out of town to USCF races. I wonder, if you did go up to Seattle and snag some cross results could you apply them to your OBRA category upgrade? It would be frustrating if you could not. -- Molly Cameron http://www.mollycameron.com Veloshop 211 SW 9th ave.
