We have been told this before by the management of USAC. When we broke away we kept the upgrade system identical to theirs so that riders didn't have to adher to two systems. Meeting with Warren Conrad and Evan Call at USAC we asked to have our races considered eligible as we consider theirs for our upgrades their response was that 'it was a safety issue'. Not true of course if we are using the same system. This is just their way of retribution- once again not working toward the overall adavancement of all cycling. How sad. By doing this, USAC will continue to erode their base of competitive cyclists. Does USAC not understand that increasing the pool of competitive cyclists, especially among younger riders, will increase the number of riders competing at an international level? I am not alone in my belief that the best US bike racers have not yet raced a bike because bicycle racing has not been extended to a larger population. I, and many others in Oregon and around the country, ask that you reconsider your recognition of other sanctioning organizations. Do not put a young rider in the situation that he/she cannot gain the upgrade points necessary to race at a top level. There is some concern her in Oregon regarding upgrades for aspiring riders. Assume a number of junior/espoire riders in Oregon are looking to participate in some of the NRC races to build the skills and fitness required to eventually make it to a professional level. If they do not yet have the USCF category 2 ranking, will they be able to use their results from OBRA sanctioned events to upgrade to USCF category 2? If not, then there will be a number of riders denied the chance to become this country's next great road racers. Please let me know how USAC stands on this issue. Thank you. << File: ATT00003.html >> _____________________________________________________________ Who will win the Oscars?
