Message RIDE FOR RELIEF OCTOBER 8 Road bicycle tour to raise money for hurricane Katrina victims MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) - A "Ride for Relief" road bicycle tour will be held Saturday, October 8th to raise money for hurricane Katrina victims. The fun event will begin and end at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, where participants can make a suggested $25 donation, and begin the 18 mile loop. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. The start and finish is at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. You first ride a steady decent on Cooper Spur Road for approximately ten miles, before joining Baseline Road. Once on Baseline riders will travel over flat roads to highway 35. Then riders will gradually climb up Highway 35 to the turn off to Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. The last two miles is a steady climb to the summit - ending at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. The scenery is diverse and inspiring, as riders climb 1750 vertical feet from the fertile farmland and orchards of the upper Hood River Valley to the alpine setting at Cooper Spur. Riders can register at the resort and make donations from 10 AM to 3 PM. Those who donate and ride receive 25% discounts on lodging at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort October 7, 8 and/or 9.
