Oprah Drops Show Topic On Banning City Cyclists

CHICAGO, IL (BR&IN)-TV talk show host Oprah
Winfrey canned
the idea to do a show on outlawing cyclists =
from
city streets. The idea
was posted last week on her web site,
www.oprah.com, in a section
where she lists possible upcoming show topics =
and
solicits opinions.

Word went out across the bike industry =
immediately
about the show.
People were urged to write and protest the =
idea.
The topic called for
discussing possible laws to limit where a =
person
can ride a bike in a city.
The web site asked for stories about people
involved in accidents
"because of a careless bike rider on a city
street."

On Thursday, the topic showed up in the =
"killed"
show topics folder on
the web site. No reason was given for =
abandoning
the idea. =A9Bicycle
