I guess my only response to this can be "So what?" Regardless of what date any given event is placed on it will conflict with some other event somewhere in the country. I have a hard time believing that either the Downer's Grove Criterium Nationals or the Oregon Junior and Team Track Championships will be diminished by having the events on the same day. How many people are actually candidates to ride both events? For the record, Downer's Grove is actually 8/21 ... the day following the rescheduled Oregon event. Traveling between the two would be a PITA, but possible for the motivated. The original scheduled date for the Oregon event conflicted locally with the State TT Championships (don't say that it was the next day ... there will be riders who will complain that they couldn't do both). Nationally it conflicted with the USCF Elite Track Nationals in LA and the ABR Track Nationals at Kenosha. If we had to choose between conflicting with the Track Natz and the Crit Natz then it appears that we have decreased the conflict and competition with USAC rather than the other way around. For what it is worth, the original date also conflicted with the Bank of America Invitational on the NRC and doubtless several other bike races around the country. The weekend for the Junior and Team track championships is NOW the same as the National Criterium championships in Downer's Grove. |
