<DIV></DIV>>I agree, Pete --- except that as it currently stands the fine for a cyclist
<DIV></DIV>>& a motorist running a red light is exactly the same.  Which, when viewed in
<DIV></DIV>>terms of the risk to public safety, is ridiculous.  Fine schedules for
<DIV></DIV>>traffic violations were increased in the last legislative session, with (for
<DIV></DIV>>Portland at least) the increased income devoted to a traffic safety fund
<DIV></DIV>>(for enforcement, education, & some engineering).  In the current
<DIV></DIV>>legislature i saw last week a bill had been introduced in the State Senate
<DIV></DIV>>to reduce the traffic fines on cyclists --- an excellent idea.
