HONE YOUR CYCLOCROSS SKILLS, WEDNESDAY NIGHTS IN SEPTEMBER Cyclocross racing season starts in October, and now is the time to work on your technique. Every Wednesday during September, the "Knights of the 'Cross" will lead cyclocross training clinics at Alpenrose Dairy. You'll learn and practice the skills necessary to compete in cyclocross racing, including mounting your bike while running, dismounting from a rolling bicycle, and crossing barriers while carrying your bike on your shoulder. (Sounds like fun, right?) Your instructors will be seasoned 'cross racers, including Eric Tonkin, Brian Witty, Brad Ross, and River City's own Rich Slingsby. Time: 6:30 pm Wednesdays Place: Alpenrose Dairy, 6149 SW Shattuck Rd., Portland Cost: $3 per session Info: Rich Slingsby, 503-233-5973, ric-@rivercitybicycles.com Looking ahead, the 2004 River City Bicycles Cross Crusade will kick off Sunday, Oct. 3, at Blue Lake Park in Troutdale, Ore. |
