Subject: Needed: Rack for Tandem Bike

<P>Hello everyone, I'm looking for a Tandem Roof rack that is compatible with Thule Bars and doesn't cost more then my bike :)</P>
<P>In my brief search so far, the cheapest I've seen is a Rocky Mount for $180.  Any suggestions? Can I buy a regular fork/tray mount rack, saw the tray in two and attach the rear wheel with the strap? Would that be enough support or am I likely to arrive at my destination bikeless?</P>
<P>Regards,</P>

<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Hello Obra-ites,
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>My wife and kids came to watch the race at PIR last night.  As they were
<DIV></DIV>>walking towards the stands, and just beginning to cross the road, a car
<DIV></DIV>>approached.  Rather than yielding, this person honked their horn and blew
<DIV></DIV>>by.  This was most likely a cat 5 person because they were leaving just
<DIV></DIV>>before 7:00, bike in tow.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>My wife was a little miffed, and called this person a name under her breath.
<DIV></DIV>>My 5 year old daughter, who doesn't miss much, asked her:
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>> "Mommy, why did you call that man a casserole?"
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>So, Mr. Casserole, please drive courteously when leaving PIR.  A fairly good
<DIV></DIV>>rule of thumb:
<DIV></DIV>> - On bike: race.
<DIV></DIV>> - In car: no race.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Most folks that have been around for a while drive very cautiously after a
<DIV></DIV>>race.  There are cyclists, fans, and yes even KIDS running around.  I would
<DIV></DIV>>prefer mine did not get squished by Mr. Casserole or any of his peers.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>So remember -- Go fast on the bike, slow in the car (until you're out of the
<DIV></DIV>>park).
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Thank you in advance for slowing down and driving courteously.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Regards,
<DIV></DIV>>Erik Voldengen
