Scott Said: The official who was driving the truck for our race (cat 3) I
think did a good job of driving up and letting the offenders know what they
were doing and letting them know they were DQ'd. One small thing for you, I
would say that at one point you drove up the left side to tell someone
something, but you did it on a blind left hand corner. Please make sure
when you make a move like that, that it is not into a blind corner. I'm not
sure if you could see or not, but I was near the front of the group and I
couldn't see around the bend.

Thank you for the note of caution. I share your concern for safety. I do
remember the blind corner I approached the pack on. When an official
approaches the pack, especially on a blind corner, we call ahead to the lead
car and ask for a call out for on-coming traffic. Often a official has to
respond quickly to a violation, Poor number placement and a constant
changing of pack position makes it near impossible to keep track and
approach the rider after the incident. If the official is able to keep
track of the offending rider and waits too long the rider is confused when
the official does approach. The pack is also watching to see what action
will take place. If we delay responding to an infraction it is often seen
as an OK to continue.
