Josh- For casual rides, the "Rubber to the Road" books are a good place to start. They're available at most local shops. The Springwater Corridor is about as unintimidating as it gets, too. The recumbent gang and I did an easy 60 miles Sunday down south of Canby, covering a good chunk of the PWTC Spring Century route. Pretty quiet, except for the section near the Wooden Shoe Bulb Company. Since it is close to Portland and flat it gets a lot of pressure from bike riders, particularly the casual variety. As a consequence the residents of the island are pretty fed up and not too friendly. The same can be said for the Scenic Highway between Troutdale and Crown Point. There seem to be a lot of folks that are part of OBRA...it would be great to have people list their best rides on a part of the website. If this doesn't exist, can people that have some great rides respond. Thanks! Also, and directly connect to the above request, my wife is back on a bike after a really bad accident with a car...we are both new to riding, and I would love to know if there are great rides where there aren't a lot of cars. Even Sauvie Island had a ton of traffic this weekend. Thanks!
