Personally I think that Sauvie is a good place to stay away from. Since it is close to Portland and flat it gets a lot of pressure from bike riders, particularly the casual variety. As a consequence the residents of the island are pretty fed up and not too friendly. The same can be said for the Scenic Highway between Troutdale and Crown Point.
