OBRA land, I'm writing to all the mountain bike racers out there to ask for your help in finding us folks willing to work as officials who are NOT racers. We need officials all over Oregon to work the variety of events (XC, DH and ultra endurance) going on this summer. WHO: We need friends, significant others, parents, spouses, etc, to work as officials for both cross country and downhill mountain bike races. NO racing or riding experience is needed. WHAT: Job responsibilities will center around providing for a safe racing experience for all involved (promoter, racer, sponsor, land owners and OBRA) as well as working to foster fair competition. Officials will work on license sales, enforce racing rules, handle protests, and work with the promoter to put on a good event with accurate and timely submission of results, license info and fees to OBRA. WHERE: Races will be from Ashland to Portland, and from the coast to central Oregon. Training will be in Corvallis. WHEN: Racing runs from March through Sept. We will attempt to assign officials to races to minimize travel and impact to personal schedules. Training will be held one Sat or Sun sometime in Feb. HOW: All you need to do is have them contact me (Jim Fischer), and I will set them up. 541-990-8979 (cell), james-f-@comcast.net (home) or 541-715-6880 (work) jim.fi-@hp.com (work). HOW MUCH: There is no cost for the class, and the officials have the option of being paid by the promoters to cover costs as well as $50-$100/day depending on specific race requirements. This is an opportunity for family and friends to actively support mountain bike racing in Oregon. Racers affiliated with officials often get their entry fees waived by the promoter. Thank you for your time. Regards, Jim Fischer OBRA ATB Representative |
