those things are amazing. I exploded a bottle under my rear tire last year and after digging out glass chards I was able to ride the same tire for the rest of the season. -----Original Message----- From: Eric.K-@kingrs.com [mailto:Eric.K-@kingrs.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 9:32 AM To: ob-@topica.com Subject: RE: [OBRA Chat] Road-sanding reminder ride specialized armadillos as well, since it's about impossible to flat them. then you can eat cliff bars as your less fortunate team mates change flats. -----Original Message----- From: Norma-@aol.com [mailto:Norma-@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 9:26 AM To: ob-@topica.com Subject: [OBRA Chat] Road-sanding reminder Due to the ice and snow the sanding trucks have been diligent to sand most of the highways all over the state of Oregon this past week. It will take months for the sand to be blown off the edges of the roads we ride on. That sand is made specifically to offer rubber tires a good grip in the snow and ice. In order to provide that level of traction the sand has razor sharp edges to grip the ice and rubber, thus the multitude of flats for the next few weeks. The point of this note is to warn and remind people you will see group rides being stopped frequently for flats. Carry plenty of tubes and even a patch kit (make sure the patch kit has fresh glue). If someone in the group flats check your tires for embedded gravel-glass that has not punctured yet. When you get home, take a few minutes to carefully check your tires for razor sharp gravel-glass. The gravel can usually be dug out with a small screwdriver, or carefully with the tip of a knife. --- __o -- -- _ \ \_~ (_)/ (_) Norman Babcock To respond to the whole group send to ob-@topica.com.
