Dear Friends in Cycling, Over the years, I have heard much ado about Juniors being "the future of the sport." Let me remind you that Juniors are odd sized racers who require special bikes and special bike parts. They are the kind of people who typically don't pay their rent, they don't pay for their meals, and with the exception of the oldest of them, they don't pay for the gas it takes to drive them to their races. Juniors often have their own ideas about training. If you need an explanation why racers don't need to drink water, or why racers don't need to wear a raincoat in the rain, ask a Junior. Sound like someone you know? Look behind them and you will see a hard driving fan/ veteran /friend of the sport who is guiding them forward. Phil Sanders, Geri Bossen, Norm Babcock, Mike and Candi Murray, RAD RACING, and dozens of parents and coaches all over the State and greater North West, are the heroes behind the scenes, who make Oregon Junior Development happen. You know who the local hero is in your community. With the Holiday Spirit in you, support a Junior right now, by writing a check. IF ALL 3,OOO OF YOU SEND $10 TO A JUNIOR, OR SOME NORTH-WEST JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION, YOU WILL GENERRATE $30,000 FOR OREGON/NW JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT!! Please get that money out there, in circulation for Oregon Juniors. Send a check to your favorite kid's support player today. I know at b.i.k.e, we have the same lament as other Oregon mentors of cycling's future, "Cycling is Expensive!" Please Keep Oregon Junior Development efforts thriving by making a donation during the Holidays. Thank You. Yours, -- John Benenate Director Sportif Cyclisme Racing Programs b.i.k.e. 1532 SE Pine St Portland, OR 97214 503-234-8454 jo-@kidsofbike.org |
