Nationals for cyclocross will be in Portland this year, and the cross in the
Portland area is going to ROCK. Lets get ready to send some Eugene folks to
Portland to have some dirty fun!

I will be offering cyclocross practice at Crest Drive Elementary School 1155
Crest Drive. This is where the Eugene Celebration Race started this year.
Take Lorane Hwy., to Chambers (or come all the way up Chambers) and go south on
Chambers to the end. Take a left at the end of Chambers and you will see the
school up ahead.

Who-kids, beginners, experts, and national level cross racers are invited.
What-Cyclocross practice
Where -rest Drive Elementary School 1155 Crest Drive
When-Tuesdays 5:30 until late October

We will work on mounting the bike, getting off the bike, and managing
barriers. There is also a great deal of excellent areas to ride a cross bike and
practice what we learn. We should be done by 7:00 or so.

What you need:
A cyclocross bike is the best.
A Mountain bike is second best, but take off the water bottle cages (but do
bring water to practice)
A road bike with mountain bike pedals and shoes is third best. Remove water
bottle cages. If you try this and like it you can put knobby tires on your
road bike if you have a fairly sturdy set of wheels. We will ride over bumpy
grass at a fairly fast clip. The brave and skilled go really fast, more cautious
go slower.

This practice is for ALL levels of fitness and abilities with someone on one
instruction as well as group activities. This is mean to be fun and a solid
workout. No fees, and no licenses.

Portland area races. If there is interest we may have one race in Eugene.
