Sunday, September 24
Ashland, Oregon
9:00 start

Directions to the Start . . . From Interstate 5, take exit 19, turn =
west, proceed to the "T" intersection (Hwy 99). Proceed up the hill into =
Ashland as Highway 99 turns into Main St. As you approach the downtown =
stores and shops, the registration area and starting line (plus all your =
friends) will be on your right, in the plaza with the fountain.

Registration . . . Both races start promptly at 9:00 from the Downtown =
Ashland Plaza. The friendly registration staff opens it's office at 7:00 =
a.m., and closes promptly at 8:45, on the nose, sharp, right now! Get =
there early and beat the rush. If you've decided to wait until race day =
to enter, it will cost you an additional $5.00 to register.

Numbers . . . Pin your number on your right side, and make sure the =
number will be readable by the referees, otherwise, you may not be =
placed! Do not fold or otherwise alter your number, or you may be asked =
to re-pin it, even if it means you start late! If you have OBRA numbers, =
remember to state that on your registration form.

T-shirts . . . Once again, unique one-of-a-kind t-shirts will be made =
available, but only 70 will be printed. The first to pre-register will =
have the best shot at securing one. They're only $15.00.

Raffle . . . Raffle prizes, donated by all the caring folks in the local =
bike shops, will be given away just prior to the awards ceremony.

Awards . . . Awards ceremony will be held at the top of the mountain at =
12:00, high noon, mediodia (or when the last rider finishes, which ever =
comes first). Unique first place mugs made by Owen Dearing, who once =
raced for the Siskiyou Wheelmen, and now lives and works in Bend, =
Oregon.

On the road . . .

Start in Lithia Park, take Siskiyou Blvd to the Hwy 66 turnoff, out to =
the old highway 99 turnoff, and then there's only one hill left to =
climb! Now it's a fight for your place in history as you challenge the =
rest of the roadies, as well as the off-road crowd for the finish line =
at the Mount Ashland Ski Lodge.

The elevation gain is 4,500' over 25 miles of good pavement, so bring =
your fastest, lightest wheels.First place overall man and woman in this =
field will win unique trophies created by Medford Fabrication.

On the dirt . . .

Start with your back to those slick, too-clean roadies. You don't have =
any blinking police lights to look at, but what you do have is all that =
beautiful scenery ahead of you. Waterfalls, wild critters, and fresh =
air! What more could you ask for?

Off-roaders will begin their grueling climb through the Ashland =
watershed in Lithia Park, up the never-ending Revenge of the Siskiyous =
climb (remember that?), and out onto the ski access road, where you'll =
meet up with your road compadres for the fight to the finish.

By some strange coincidence, you'll also be climbing 4,500', only you'll =
do it in 16.5 miles of mostly dirt road. Both the beginning and the last =
1.5 miles are paved.

First place overall man and woman in this category will win unique =
trophies created by Bob and Belinda Vos.
