Unfortunately one apparently found a very short moment of opportunity and literally rode away with a red Specialized S-Works just before the start of the Masters Men 35-49 race. The thief rode away with the bike and was spotted on Yamhill St, wearing a white bandana. The owner of the bike is from Boulder, CO, and was given a car and a cell phone to immediately go after the thief, but to no avail. Portland Police were notified and apparently were keeping an eye out for it. Our visitor from Boulder would really like his bike back. I hope he doesn't think that this is common at Oregon bike races. If you see someone at a race who doesn't look like they belong to a bike they just picked up (e.g., no race number, no cycling shoes, etc.), introduce yourself and ask them who they are. Perhaps you'll thwart a would-be thief. Here's the details on the bike: 58 cm Red Specialized S-Works Dura Ace Grouppo Purple/Black saddle Mavic Equipe Wheels Easton carbon fiber seat post Speedplay pedals If you see anything unusual that matches any of the details above (i.e., eBay, bike shops, pawn shops, on the street, etc), please email dejan-@attbi.com, or contact me at: dare-@easystreet.com 503-657-0568 (H) 503-984-2837 (cell) Thanks, Darell Provencher Team Rose City ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01C33E88.458DC860 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.3314.2100" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Bike thieves can pop up anywhere at anytime.
