This thread may be getting boring to some - my apologies to those, but a very important part of our sport is the reality that we have to ride amidst large, potentially death-inflicting monsters (autos). I have to speak up for

BRIGHT CLOTHING:Safety clothing

I think that wearing gray is NOT the way to safe riding!

Part of motorists' potential ire is coming upon a cyclist by surprise.
BRIGHT CLOTHING:Safety clothing maximizes the time they have to react, as they're going to see you sooner. Dressing darkly leans towards, "out of sight, out of mind," which isn't too good a thing in traffic. When I see a rider dressed in black, I can't help but to want point out the way to the Wizzzard (on the Y.B.Road), so's they can apply for more brains!

in a car who gets mad at a cyclist has an IQ of 10 and is one step away
from attempted murder. (...)
