Hey OBRA land, The day after the state championship race this year is the Pedal For Pet's fundraiser ride. The State Championship race is helping with some of the cost and supplies for the event and several of us will be riding and supporting the event. If you can't stick around for the ride on the following day and still wish to support it please drop of a few $$ in the donation jar at registration. Richard Sweet Race Director Here is the information about the event, The event will take place on Sunday June 15th, 2003. Pedal For Pets is an organized bike ride raising money for Lane County Animal Regulation Authority. LCARA has a program called "Adopt a Kennel" which ask $1500 of each contributor, and Pedal For Pets is aiming to reach this goal. Half of the profits goes toward the creation of spay and neuter coupons available to the public, and the other half funds care for stray animals who require emergency medical treatment. All profits over $1500 will benefit other programs at LCARA, such as their new cat room, or help purchase pet food and supplies. There are several options available for participation. 1) Kitten Crawl: 10 miles, this ride is a flat loop that includes part of the Fern Ridge Trail. All roads used are wide and have bike lanes. 2) Spaniel Stretch: 27 miles, Still a flat ride, not all roads have bike lanes. 3) Greyhound Haul: 45 miles, Make sure your brakes, legs and lungs all work well before you take off on this ride! A nice ride out through the Fern Ridge and Veneta areas. 4) Supporting sponsor: If you can't make it out for the ride donate to another rider, $1- Skies the limit.
