They are psychologically incapable of socialized human rational thoughts. Even if the law enforcement and judical agencies were to apply legal consequences for their actions, they would not understand the relationship between their behavoir and the pain. All they would remember is that someone else caused them pain. At best, we can hope that some of them would weakly connect their behavoir with the painful consequences. This might prevent them from repeating the behavoir in the future. In the worst case, they become even angrier and attack again. We have a lot of people (wild animals) in our society that can not make that connection (re. repeat offenders). |
